Elon alumni Eddie Bridges '57 and the late Claude Manzi '50 will be among 14 individuals inducted into the Guilford County (N.C.) Sports Hall of Fame in the Class of 2011, a group that will bring the total number of inductees since the Hall's creation to 78.

Bridges is a highly respected wildlife conservation and outdoor advocate who served on the Wildlife Resources Commission and founded North Carolina’s Wildlife Endowment Fund. He also founded the N.C. Wildlife Habitats Foundation and serves as its executive director.
Manzi served as the first football coach at Smith High School in Greensboro, N.C., from 1963-77. He coached NFL players Vince Evans, Jeff Bostic and Joe Bostic.
The Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame was started in 2005. The Class of 2011 includes Olympic gold medalist Joey Cheek.
