Matt Shingledecker '08 has been cast as Roger Davis in the Off-Broadway revival of "Rent," which opens Aug. 11 at New World Stages in New York City.
A graduate of Elon’s renowned music theatre program, Shingledecker rose to campus fame when he played the lead in Elon’s February 2008 production of “Phantom of the Opera.” Later that spring, he joined the Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning musical “Spring Awakening” prior to graduating from Elon. Shingledecker continued with the show’s first national tour, which began in 2008 and wrapped in May 2010, then portrayed Tony in a Broadway production of “West Side Story” last fall. In February 2011, he made his television debut, appearing in an episode of the hit CBS drama “Blue Bloods.”
