Ann Flaherty has been named the founding director for the newly created Office of Leadership and Professional Development. This new office and the services it will provide to the community are part of Elon's strategic plan for 2020 and serves as a means to reach its goal of supporting a world class faculty and staff.
Flaherty has more than 20 years experience in professional development with a special focus on university settings. She has an extensive background working in higher education at Baylor University, the University of Texas and Eastern Carolina University. Additionally, she spent several years as one of the key developers of a series on higher education professional development at the Center for Creative Leadership.
Flaherty brings a full menu of certifications to assist in identifying professional development needs and is a sought after expert in team development, change management, effective feedback and performance improvement. She will work with Dr. Connie Book, associate provost for academic affairs.
