Betsy Stevens, an associate professor of business administration at the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, received a citation award this summer from the Journal of Business Ethics for her article, “An Analysis of Corporate Ethical Code Studies: Where Do We Go From Here?”
Originally published in 1994, Stevens’ article will be included in a list of “citation classics” appearing in an upcoming volume celebrating the journal’s 30 years of publication.
According to the journal’s editor-in-chief, Alex Michalos, “Citation classics have been defined as articles whose frequency of being cited is at least four standard deviations above the mean (51 of 4747 articles).” Michalos noted that Stevens’ article “is a significantly important contribution to the field of business ethics and as such is included in the list of citation classics.”
“I’m honored to receive this award,” said Stevens. “The article was based on my dissertation research where I analyzed 40 corporate ethical codes. It was one of the first articles to define corporate codes, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and suggest avenues for future research.”
The Journal of Business Ethics is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Springer Science+Business Media covering methodological and disciplinary aspects of ethical issues related to business, including systems of production, consumption, marketing, advertising, social and economic accounting, labor relations, public relations and organizational behavior.
