School of Communications visiting professor Brian Walsh produced a 20-minute documentary this summer about Bushwick Creek, a small inlet of water off the East River that nestles between the towns of Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The idea for the project arose with a simple premise, according to the documentary’s website: “What is that little tiny inlet of water I see on every map of New York?” (See the circled body of water in the photo to the right.)
The film’s website also says that the creek was a major thoroughfare for Brooklyn businesses that wanted to send their goods across the East River. It eventually fell into disrepair but there are plans to revitalize the creek and surrounding area.
