Victoria Tillson, assistant professor of Italian, participated at the Canadian Society for Italian Studies annual conference in Venice, Italy June 24-26.
She presented her research on the influence of Pier Paolo Pasolini on Federico Fellini’s Oscar-winning film “The Nights of Cabiria” (1957). Her research highlights Pasolini’s direct impact on various elements, including dialogue, characters and setting, while drawing correlations between the two auteurs’ artistic incorporation of Dantean imagery, engagement with prostitutes as protagonists, and understanding of Rome’s post-World War II development.
