Sept. 13 4:10 Belk Pavilion 208
Racial harassment of students is easy to condemn, of course, but perhaps this is an opportune time on our campus when we might dig a little deeper and consider how the recent incidents might be teachable moments – or at least moments of reflection for all of us about what and how we teach.
CATL will sponsor a conversation about issues such as:
- Should we as individual faculty members bring up the recent incidents to our students? If so, what? What do we say if they bring it up?
- Do students perceive our classrooms as safe and equitable places? (How can we know?)
- What can we do to make sure our classrooms are inclusive? (or at least what do we know we shouldn’t do?)
Please feel free to join us if you can for this conversation tomorrow (Tuesday Sept. 13) starting at 4:10 in AVTL (Belk Pavilion) 208.
