The 18th Annual Arizona State University High School Choral Leadership Workshop featured editions of three classical period motets edited by associate professor of music and director of Choral Activities Stephen A. Futrell.
The motets, by Anna Amalia voc Sachsen, are settings of three of the Marion antiphons, are for mixed chorus and chamber orchestra, and are published nationally through Fred Bock Music Companies.
In addition, the choral literature presentation included Futrell’s edition of a hymn tune, “Creator alme siderum,” set by Guillaume Dufay c. 1430. The ASU workshop, which took place Sept. 16-18, attracts an annual participation of 300-350 high school choristers and some 60-75 choral directors.
