A manuscript authored by assistant professor of physics Ben Evans and Elon undergraduates Dan Glass, Willem Prins, and Dan Rapp will appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials.
The in-press article is currently available online via the link displayed at right.
The article, “A highly tunable silicone-based magnetic elastomer with nanoscale homogeneity,” describes the synthesis and characterization of a novel magnetic polymer which will be useful in the fabrication of micro- and nano-scale magnetic actuators. The material is currently under investigation in the lab as a precursor for artificial magnetic cilia and magnetic microspheres for targeted drug delivery applications.
Evans presented this work earlier this month in a seminar at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) in Greensboro.
