Elon Athletics has partnered with Little Pink Houses of Hope to raise awareness about breast cancer during the Oct. 1 home football game against Georgia Southern at 1:30 p.m.
In support of this initiative, the Phoenix football team will wear pink wristbands and shoelaces while the coaching staff will don pink hats. Elon cheerleaders will use pink pom-poms as well. Prior to the game, a tailgate will be held in the Harper Lot where fans can purchase t-shirts.
The two organizations have also partnered together for a sponsor-a-student program. All week, current Elon student-athletes will be traveling to local elementary and junior high schools to speak with students. While there, the Elon student-athletes will hand out vouchers which will allow the students to attend Saturday’s game for free.
Little Pink Houses of Hope is an organization that provides week-long beach retreats in the Carolinas for breast cancer patients and their families. Each week allows the families to spend quality time together and every morning family programs are planned. Every beach retreat is designed to help families live stronger, laugh harder and love deeper.
