Lisa Kula Wolff, a 1989 Elon alumna, has been selected for service to two prestigious North Carolina government organizations.
Wolff has been appointed by the North Carolina General Assembly to the State Park Authority and has been installed as the 2012 president of the North Carolina Recreation & Parks Association. Wolff will also continue in her position as superintendent of recreation programming and marketing for the City of Burlington.
“Our state park system exists for the enjoyment, education, health and inspiration of all our citizens and visitors,” Wolff says. “I am proud to play a role in this laudable organization and will be here to serve citizens in our community and state with gratitude.”
The State Park Authority is a 15-member board appointed by the governor and the General Assembly. Wolff will serve a three-year term on the board, which is charged with receiving public and private donations to the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund, allocating funds for land acquisitions and capital projects, soliciting and developing effective support for parks and recreation, and advising the Secretary of the Department of Environment and National Resources on necessary matters.
The Recreation & Parks Association is dedicated to the advancement of the park, recreation and leisure profession in North Carolina.
“Lisa has served the residents of Burlington well in her career,” says Tony Laws, director of Burlington Recreation & Parks. “We know that she will be outstanding in her roles with both of these organizations.”
Wolff graduated from Elon in 1989 with a degree in leisure and sport management. She and her husband, Allen, and their two sons live in Burlington.
