Pro Bono in Private Practice Discussion Panel – Oct. 24

The Public Interest Law Society and the Office of Career Services invite members of the Elon Law community to a panel discussion on pro bono service in private practice. The panel will take place from 5:30-6:15 pm in room 207, with a reception to follow from 6:15-7:15 in Cemala Commons.
Local Government Educational Series – City Council Candidates Forum – Oct. 20

In partnership with the Elon Law, synerG - the young professionals initiative of Action Greensboro - is hosting a series of educational events to engage the young professional community with the Greensboro City Government. The Local Government Education Series will explore regional economic development and the structure of local government at two luncheons, followed by a City Council Candidates Forum presented with the Greensboro Partnership.

Federalist Society hosts dialogue about the International Criminal Court

On Sept. 19, Professor Ronald Rychlak of the University of Mississipi School of Law spoke to Elon Law students about the International Criminal Court (ICC) and how it affects international conflicts and peace negotiations. Elon Law's Federalist Society organized the event.
Elon Law’s Phi Alpha Delta receives national awards

Elon Law's Hooper Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) received two national awards in September at the Phi Alpha Delta District XXV Conference. The awards were: The Most Outstanding Chapter in District XXV for the 2010-11 Academic Year and The "Meet or Beat Recruitment Award" for the 2010-11 Academic Year.
Elon Law faculty members publish op-ed opposing state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage

Elon Law professors Michael Rich, Sonya Garza and Andy Haile published an op-ed article in the Sunday, Sept. 25 edition of the News & Record arguing that, "our Constitution is not a place for provisions that marginalize minorities or restrict liberties."
