Elon Law's Hooper Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) received two national awards in September at the Phi Alpha Delta District XXV Conference. The awards were: The Most Outstanding Chapter in District XXV for the 2010-11 Academic Year and The "Meet or Beat Recruitment Award" for the 2010-11 Academic Year.
In the 2010-11 academic year, Elon Law’s PAD chapter inducted its largest pledge class ever with over 70 new members.
Last year, PAD consistently gave back to the Greensboro community. For example, PAD partnered with Habitat for Humanity, Housing Greensboro and the Greensboro Urban Ministry. In March 2011, the organization focused its community service efforts on Housing Greensboro and adopted one major home repair project in support of a single mother of three with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The scope of repair work for the home included a new roof, back door and a total renovation of both the bathroom and kitchen.
In order to raise money for this home repair project, PAD held two fundraisers in the community. The first was a donation night at Feeney’s Frozen Yogurt on March 8, 2011 and the second was a Mardi Gras themed fundraiser held downtown on March 12, 2011.
Currently, Phi Alpha Delta is Elon Law’s largest student organization. In addition to continuing the fraternity’s annual canned food drive and co-sponsoring Elon Law’s third annual Martin Luther King, Jr. program, this year Phi Alpha Delta also plans to expand its philanthropic initiatives by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the Greensboro Urban Ministry.
Phi Alpha Delta will conduct its newest members on Thursday, September 29, 2011.
