Several student groups got an early taste of Homecoming spirit by participating in the Student Alumni Council's inaugural Homecoming Banner Contest.
Participants were instructed to create a banner that depicted this year’s Homecoming theme, “Our HIstory, Our Heritage, Our Home,” using a twin-sized sheet and whatever else their imaginations required.
Three groups’ designs were selected for cash prizes, and all of the contest’s banners, including the winners, will be hanging on display in Moseley Center’s Young Commons lobby until Saturday, greeting alumni as they enter the Homecoming check-in area.
On Saturday, the banners will be moved to Rhodes Stadium for the Elon vs. University of Tennessee-Chattanooga football game.
The inaugural Homecoming Banner Contest winners are:
- First Place:
Team Cranberries (Danielle Richer, Danielle Cooper, Angela Shuback & Laura Minchew)
- Second Place:
Sigma Kappa (Amy Simmonds, Lizzie Balazs, Mackenzie Meyer & Alexa Dexter)
- Third Place:
Elon Volunteers!/Kernodle Center (Caroline Taylor, Sam Murray, Katie Kenney, Will Brummett, Melissa Patrick, Andrew Somers & Ali Garced)
