National French Week is here and the French Club is celebrating with lots of fun events!
Tuesday, Nov. 8:
Come to College Coffee from 9:40-10:20 a.m. The French House will have a table promoting French at Elon. Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society, will sponsor its annual Faces and Places Contest. Come to the table and fill out a ballot correctly identifying the French faces and places and you could win a prize.
The French Club, the French House, and the National French Honor Society are hosting a Crêpe Night in the Carlton Kitchen from 6-8 p.m. Come eat some delicious homemade crêpes for a great cause! Crêpes will be $3 and all proceeds will go to Avalon, a refugee center in Greensboro.
Thursday, Nov. 10:
The French Club is having a movie night! There will be pizza and other refreshments. Please email Kirsten Haugsted — khaugsted@elon.edu — if you are interested in coming so we know how much pizza to order. It will begin at 7 and location is TBA.
Monday, Nov. 14:
There will be a French Cheese Tasting and French Song Showcase at 7:15 in Carlton Kitchen. Take a break from your studying. Eat dinner and then come have cheese or dessert with us after your meal, the way the French do it! Or, fiscally strained students might choose to make this their main meal! Fruit, bread, nutella, beverages, and of course cheese will be provided! French music will enhance the ambiance and set the mood as our background soundtrack.
Also coming up on Thursday, Dec. 1, is the French Club dinner at Vin Rouge, an authentic French restaurant in Durham. Cost is $25 for the Menu prix fixe (fixed price menu) that includes an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. This is an excellent value and a great opportunity to eat some authentic French food in a French style bistro atmosphere. A maximum of 10 students may attend this dinner, and the first 2 to RSVP will receive $10 off their meal! If you are interested in being a part of this great experience, please email Kirsten Haugsted — khaugsted@elon.edu — by Nov. 21.
Remember to come to La Table Française as well! The next ones will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, at 4 in Irazú and Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 4:30 in Irazú. This is a great way to practice your French in a relaxed, stress-free environment!
