National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov. 14-18

Join Campus Kitchen at Elon University in honoring National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov. 14-18, 2011.

Throughout the week, Elon University will be one of several schools and communities taking part in a nationwide effort to promote education, action and awareness about hunger and homelessness.

There are multiple service opportunities and events on and off campus during NHHAW that enable students to help fight hunger and homelessness in the Elon community and beyond.

NHHAW schedule:

Mon. Nov. 14
    o Redbud Farm- 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Tues. Nov. 15
    o Allied Churches- 9-11 a.m.
    o CKEU Cooking Shift- 6-8 p.m.
    o Faces of Homelessness Panel- LaRose Digital Theatre, KOBC- 7:30 p.m. This event is being co-sponsored by the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement and the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life. 

Wed. Nov. 16
    o Loaves and Fishes- 10-11:30 a.m.

Thurs. Nov. 17
    o CKEU Delivery Shift- 10:30 a.m.- noon
    o Allied Churches 3-5 p.m.

Fri. Nov. 18
    o Allied Churches- 9-11 a.m. & noon- 2 p.m.
    o Benefit Concert featuring Twisted Measure McKinnon- 8-10 p.m. This event is being co-sponsored by the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement and the Student Union Board.
        • In lieu of an admission fee, please bring 1 canned food item.

CKEU is also sponsoring Turkeypalooza, a campus-wide food drive, as part of NHHAW. Canned goods can be dropped off in designated donation bins located around campus.
