Patrick Singleton ’97 elected to World Olympians Association executive committee

Patrick Singleton '97, who represented Bermuda in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympic Games, has been elected treasurer of the World Olympians Association, a partner of the International Olympic Committee.

Singleton was one of nine people elected to the WOA’s executive board by representatives of the organization’s 130 member nations. His primary responsibility will be to oversee the planning and implementation of the WOA’s Olympic Reunion Center for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. The facility will serve Olympic athletes and their families, plus visiting heads of state and other dignitaries.

Singleton competed in the men’s singles luge in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, and the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. In 2006, he competed in the skeleton in the Turin, Italy, Olympics. A 1997 Elon communications graduate, Singleton has worked in broadcasting and print journalism for Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper and Bloomberg News in Tokyo and London, among others.
