Ross Wade, assistant director of Career Services for the School of Communications, presented Jan. 21 to the Triad Association of Black Journalists on how journalists can use social media to better market themselves and enhance their job search.
TABJ’s half-day workshop was focused on branding and professional development and included three presenters: Wade, Danielle Hatfield (@dhatfield) of Experience Farm, and blogger and author Natalie P. McNeal, a.k.a “Frugalista” (@frugalista). Approximately 40 TABJ members attended the workshop and posted topic questions, ideas and thoughts on Twitter throughout the day (#TABJBrandYou).
The TABJ provides networking and professional development opportunities for African-American journalists, encourages students of color to pursue media-related careers, and creates a dialogue with the Triad community to make sure our stories are being told well. The organization is an affiliate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists that represents the interests of black journalists and media-related professionals in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.
