Associate Professor Stephen A. Futrell, director of choral activities in the Department of Music, appeared as guest adjudicator/clinician and solo vocalist for the 39th Annual University of Mary Jazz Festival, held Jan. 27-28, 2012, in Bismarck, N.D.
Futrell adjudicated and worked with middle and high school jazz ensembles on Friday and then adjudicated and worked with vocal jazz ensembles on Saturday during the festival. Futrell also presented a workshop on vocal technique and style.
The festival included a Friday night concert where Futrell appeared as guest vocalist on stage with the University of Mary Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
