Associate Professor of Fine Arts Shawn Tucker presented some of his research at the conference of the Humanities Education and Research Association March 7-10, 2012.
Held in Salt Lake City, the conference brought together national and international scholars working in all areas of the Humanities. Dr. Tucker’s presentation, “Death of a Branch Manager: Willy Loman, Michael Scott, and the Tragicomedy of Narcissism,” brought together insights he developed from his Pride, Humility, and the Good Life seminar. He examined the defensive self-esteem of both characters as well as their explicit and implicit self-esteem. This interdisciplinary examination, drawing upon current psychological insights to explore literature and television, was well received.
