Communications assistant professor Sang Nam took home fifth place at the Korean National Writing Competition.
Nam submitted his poems for the first Han-Choon Literature Award, and one of his poems, “Spring Scene,” placed fifth at the competition. The poem describes mixed emotions about waiting for spring during a cold winter.
One of the judges said Nam’s poem “uses the form of traditional Korean poetry, and it’s amazing to see someone came up with modern content using traditional form.”
Nam has shared his creative writings in various venues, but it was the first time he entered the Korean National Writing Competition.
