Elon honored 10 outstanding graduates of the past decade on March 31 at the annual Top 10 Under 10 Awards banquet.

The School of Communications and Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, selected the inaugural recipients of their Distinguished Alumni Awards this spring. Jo Craven McGinty '85 and Doug Finberg '94 were honored by the School of Communications. Niclas Stiernholm '89, Letitia Lee '99 and Britten Ginsburg Pund '06 were recognized by Elon College.

Microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus, who shared the Nobel Peace Prize with the bank he founded, headlined Elon's 2012 Convocation for Honors.

Durice White '09, coordinator of alumni engagement for affinity programs, was named the African & African-American Studies at Elon (AAASE) Staff Person of the Year.

Dozens of students took part in the annual event that raises money for the American Cancer Society.

Visiting Professor of Italian and Italian American Studies Samuele Pardini presented a paper titled "Images of Italian Americans in African American literature during Jim Crow," at the "Reimagining White Ethnicity. Expressivity, Identity, Race" conference held at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute in New York City, on April 27-28, 2012.

Professor of History Jim Bissett presented a paper titled "Demanding Democracy: The Socialist Movement and Oklahoma Politics" at the Woody Guthrie Symposium hold at the University of Tulsa in March 2012, as part of the celebration to honor the legendary American folksinger 100th anniversary.

Elon's Senior Staff toured the construction site of The Station at Mill Point on May 1, getting a sneak peek at the inside of one of the houses.
