Wally Bixby, Paul Miller, Eric Hall, and Resa Walch recently presented at the International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health in Atlanta, Ga., held April 17– 20. The conference was hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity and Health. This congress created a forum for researchers and practitioners to interact and discuss recent developments and future directions in the areas of physical activity and public health. The conference was attended by approximately 900 professionals representing 44 countries.
Bixby presented his paper titled “Relationships between activity, fitness, self-esteem and satisfaction with life.” Current student Brooks Martin was a co-author on this paper.
Miller and current student Chrissy Kostura co-authored the paper “Relationship between exercise dependence, physical fitness, and physical activity.”
Hall and Walch’s paper “Changes in weight and physical activity patterns among first year college students.” This paper was co-authored by former students Kelly Blake and Ashley Simms.
