Elon University’s School of Communications has become a member of the Campus Consortium of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.
The program will enable students to participate with Center journalists in creating awareness media campaigns about under-reported global systemic issues.
As a member of the consortium, Elon will have the opportunity for its students to work with the Center on developing international reporting projects. Pulitzer Center staff and journalists will visit the campus twice each year and mentor students on projects that will be featured on the Center’s website and may be disseminated through media partners. At least one student will be the recipient of an international reporting fellowship and receive up to $2,000 to cover travel expenses for a reporting project.
“The partnership with the Pulitzer Center is really exciting, ” said Paul Parsons, dean of the School of Communications. “Our program is perfectly suited for this relationship with the Center because of our commitment to diverse and global issues.”
The School of Communications is one of only 17 partner colleges and universities in the Campus Consortium.
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is a non-profit journalism organization in Washington, D.C. The Center supports independent journalists who cover international topics that are under-reported by traditional media outlets. The consortium is an educational initiative of the Center to encourage student journalists.
