A record 65 percent of employees contributed $377,737 to the Faculty/Staff Campaign, setting new benchmarks in participation and money raised.
This is the second consecutive year in which faculty and staff have set new giving records. During the 2010-2011 Faculty/Staff Campaign, 60 percent of employees made a gift to the university, nearly doubling the results from 2009-2010, when 34 percent participated. At Elon Law, faculty and staff once again reported 100 percent giving.
The 2011-2012 Faculty/Staff Campaign, which ended May 31, was led by co-chairs Rhonda Belton and Paul Miller, as well as 50 volunteer captains in departments across campus.
“I am thrilled with the success of this year’s Faculty/Staff Campaign,” Miller says. “Reaching our very ambitious goal of 65 percent participation illustrates the great dedication of our community to the university. The contributions made by our campus community create important opportunities for students, staff and faculty.”
The $377,737 raised this year supports scholarships as well as academic programs and schools, the Elon Experiences and athletics among other priorities. Last year, $312,373 was raised in the annual giving drive.
Belton, who has completed her final year of service as campaign co-chair, is excited to see a strong tradition of giving develop among faculty and staff.
“I hope this recognition of the importance of giving back to Elon has been instilled in our faculty and staff and that we have started a new precedent and tradition of giving,” Belton says. “As faculty and staff, I think we realize what a great place Elon truly is, and we care enough to want to make a difference.”
