Carolyn DeFrancesco named director of planned giving at Elon

DeFrancesco will help identify donors who have an interest in supporting Elon University through bequests, annuities, trusts and more.

Carolyn Kozuch DeFrancesco has been named Elon University’s new director of planned giving and will oversee programs to identify and steward the support of donors who have an interest in supporting Elon through bequests, annuities, trusts, property transactions, life insurance and other deferred giving vehicles.

DeFrancesco graduated from Brown University with an A.B. in Classics, and she received her law degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. She was a family law litigator in Los Angeles for many years, with experience in institutional advancement at Brown University and at PUENTE Learning Center in East Los Angeles.

In addition, she held numerous positions on the boards of directors of the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law and Women Lawyers of Los Angeles. She has volunteered on the board of directors of Family Abuse Services of Alamance County, Inc.

DeFrancesco most recently served as vice president for Institutional Advancement at nearby Greensboro College, overseeing fundraising, alumni relations and special events. She was a member of the President’s Core Operations Group and the President’s Council, and she served on the Strategic Planning Committee and the Academic Program Review Commission.

DeFrancesco and her husband, Martin, an obstetrician/gynecologist, live in Greensboro with their four children.
