Henry Gabriel publishes and presents globally on international commercial law

Over the past academic year, Elon Law Professor Henry Gabriel has contributed widely to the field of international law. His work ranges from international visiting professorships at Murdoch University and Victoria University in Australia to numerous publications, presentations and international and national law revisions.

This year, Gabriel wrote five articles that were selected for publication in law reviews around the world, including the International Trade and Business Law ReviewSouth Texas Law Review, Uniform Law Review and Victoria Law School Journal.

He also completed updates on two volumes of his book, Benders Uniform Commercial Code Service: Gabriel and Henning on Sales and Bulk Transfers, and was re-appointed to the American Bar Association International and Domestic Policy Advisory Group.

 

  • Publication of:

“Electronic Commerce in International Commercial Law: Where Have We Been and Where are We Going,” in the International Trade and Business Law Review;

“The Application of the Geneva Convention for Intermediated Securities forthcoming in 2(1) DICTUM,” in the Victoria Law School Journal;

“The 2003 Amendments to Article Two of the Uniform Commercial Code: Eight Years or a Lifetime After Completion,” in the South Texas Law Review; and,

“Warehouse Receipts and Securitization in Agricultural Finance,” in the Uniform Law Review.

  • Six presentations on topics relating to The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in San Diego, Washington D.C., Rome, Italy and Beijing, China.
  • Participation in international law revisions with UNIDROIT and as a member of the United States Delegation to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Working Group on Electronic Commerce in Vienna, Austria.
  • Participation in national law revisions as the state of North Carolina representative for the National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws in Vail, Colo. and as a member of the Uniform Commercial Code committee at the National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws in New York. Gabriel has served on the Uniform Commercial Code committee since 2003.
  • Membership on the Board of Advisors for the Vindobona Journal of International Commercial Law and Arbitration; the Board of Editors for the International Trade and Business Law Review; and as the External Reviewer for the Melbourne Journal of International Law.
