Teresa LePors, coordinator of library public services, and Derek Rodriguez, program officer with the Triangle Research Libraries Network in Chapel Hill, presented a session at the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities 8th Annual Assessment Conference at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., on May 31, 2012.
The presentation was entitled “New Tools for Examining Library Impact on Student Learning.” The session discussed the Understanding Library Impacts protocol which is designed to link students’ information seeking behavior to discipline-specific learning outcomes. The presentation outlined the protocol, discussed the findings from a spring 2011 pilot study which included surveying Elon senior history majors, and reported on the study from a participating library’s perspective.
