The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Middle Tennessee Chapter has named Laura Somerville '06 one of Nashville’s 2012 top 30 young professionals and philanthropists under the age of 30.
The Top 30 Under 30 recognizes individuals who “exemplify leadership qualities, excel in their professional industry and, most importantly, dedicate their time and energy to Nashville’s nonprofit community.”
Somerville is an account assistant at DVL Public Relations & Advertising, and her community service activities have included service to the Nashville Junior Chamber, Special Olympics Nashville, Council on Aging of Greater Nashville and United Way of Metropolitan Nashville. In 2009, Somerville helped found Elon’s Nashville Alumni Chapter, which she now serves as co-president.
In a release on the DVL website, President and CEO Ronald Roberts said: “DVL believes in being active member of our community and participating in volunteer opportunities. We are very proud of Laura’s accomplishment and happy that she’s being recognized for the hard work she does in the Nashville community.”
Somerville will be honored at a Sept. 21 ceremony in Nashville’s War Memorial Auditorium.
