‘Personalized Medicine: The Right Treatment for the Right Patient’ – Nov. 5

Monday, November 5
Marie Davidian, “Personalized Medicine: The Right Treatment for the Right Patient”
McCrary Theatre, 7:30 p.m.

The Human Genome Project provides potential applications of “individualized” treatment for a patient based upon one’s specific genetic makeup such that the therapies applied would achieve the best possible outcomes. Davidian, the William Neal Reynolds Professor of Statistics at North Carolina State University, analyzes clinical data and reports of personalized treatments and suggests this health care model requires making sense of vast, complex data and understanding the mechanisms of disease.
