The Town of Elon has closed East Haggard Avenue to traffic between Williamson Avenue and North O’Kelly Avenue for crosswalk repairs.
The project should take about two weeks to complete. Throughout the duration of the project, motorists should take the following detour:
Eastbound traffic can follow Williamson Avenue north to University Drive, take University Drive east to North O’Kelly Avenue and take North O’Kelly Avenue south back to East Haggard Avenue.
Westbound traffic can follow North O’Kelly Avenue north to University Drive, take
University Drive west to Williamson Avenue and take Williamson Avenue south back to East Haggard Avenue.
The Town of Elon has signs in place to help guide motorists along the detour. Motorists traveling around the work zone are reminded to stay alert, obey the posted speed limit and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
Pedestrians are able to cross East Haggard Avenue away from the crosswalks, and signs are in place to mark those suggested areas.
The Town is also working on East Lebanon and East Trollinger Avenues, which are undergoing curb and gutter installation. Both streets will remain open to through traffic.
