Several multimedia student journalists are credentialed to cover the Democratic National Convention when it comes to North Carolina.

Elon Local News, the university’s student-produced video and broadcast news organization, will be sending reporters to Charlotte, N.C, from Sept. 3-6 to cover the Democratic National Convention.
Elon Local News will have three credentialed reporters in Charlotte for the duration of the convention: Julie Morse ’13, Jason Puckett ’14 and Nicole Chadwick ‘14, all of whom have access into the convention and will be on the floor covering speeches and conducting interviews.
ELN will also send additional reporters each day to cover the DNC from outside the event. On Sept. 3, these reporters will be Brian Mezerski ’15, Jasmine Turner ’15 and Eric Halperin ’15.
Reporters on Sept. 4 will be Katie Maraghy ’15, Allison D’Amora ’14 and Arnetia Fogg ’13.
On Sept. 5, Joe Bruno ’14, Scarlett Fakhar ’13, Jeff Ackermann ’14 and Kristen Wallach ’14 will travel to Charlotte. Fakhar returns Sept. 6 with Kelly Finneran ’15.
Back at the studio, ELN will be teaming up with the Pendulum student newspaper for coverage. Pendulum reporter Rachel Southmayd ’13 will be joining the team Sept. 3-4 as a social media reporter. ELN’s Halperin will be reporting from the social media center on Sept. 6.
ELN will be airing shows on four consecutive evenings dedicated to the DNC, three of which will be live. These shows will be anchored by Fakhar and Bruno and produced by Ackermann, D’Amora and Bruno.
On Sept. 6, anchors will be Bruno and Katie Maraghy ’15. Live shows will be on Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 6 at 9:30 p.m.The Thursday show will air President Barack Obama’s acceptance speech from Bank of America Stadium.
The Sept. 5 show will not be live. It will be anchored by Fakhar and Bruno from Charlotte and posted online. All shows will be aired on Channel 5
Additionally, ELN will be providing daily previews at 9 a.m. and wrap-ups at 11p.m. starting Tuesday morning for the duration of the convention.
“The DNC is going to be a universal ELN experience,” Bruno said. “Everyone on our staff will be contributing, whether they are in Charlotte or at our studio on campus. Our goal is to provide continuous coverage of the DNC as Elon’s news leader.”
