Omri Shimron, associate professor of music, opened Randolph College's Guest Artist Series for the 2012-2013 season, with a performance of Frederic Rzewki's "36 Variations on The People United Will Never Be Defeated!".
The recital took place on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in Wimberly Hall, at the Presser music building. Classics Radio (WWEM 91.7 FM in Lynchburg, Va.) recorded the recital and broadcast it on the weekend of Sept. 15.
In addition to recording the recital, Classics Radio interviewed Omri about this unusual work for their program Fine Arts This Week, with host Keith Peters. While at Randolph College, Omri also gave a lecture for a BFA Colloquium course and taught an advanced-level piano student.
