Former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker, the head of the Comeback America Initiative, will make an Elon University stop on his $10 Million a Minute Tour. The presentation will be at 10:50 a.m., Friday, Oct. 5, in the LaRose Digital Theater in the Ernest A. Koury Sr. Business Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Walker is taking his fiscal responsibility message on the road, stopping in more than a dozen states, bringing national attention to the economic and fiscal challenges facing our nation. According to Walker, the tour is fact-based, non-partisan and non-ideological, focusing on the tough choices the nation faces and solutions that can achieve bipartisan support and restore “fiscal sanity.”

Walker is considered by many to be the country’s foremost nonpartisan expert on the debt crisis. The tour’s events are frank discussions with voters about what the presidential candidates and statewide political candidates should be proposing regarding fiscal responsibility. The tour has drawn large crowds in previous stops and has been covered by numerous national outlets, including Anderson Cooper 360, Andrea Mitchell and Morning Joe.

“For every minute that goes by our federal financial sinkhole grows by about $10 million,” Walker says. “If we don’t act soon to curb this trend, everything Americans hold dear will be affected, including jobs, education, health care, secure retirement, infrastructure, national security, mortgage rates and the success or failure of thousands of businesses.”

This is Walker’s second visit to Elon University. In April 2011, he was part of a Spring Convocation panel discussion moderated by NBC News Anchor Brian Williams.
