On October 4th, Kevin Morrison, Director of Study Abroad and Assistant Dean of Global Studies, co-presented a webinar for the Diversity Abroad Network on LGBTQ issues.
The webinar, What Every Study Abroad Professional Needs to Know, addressed key concepts while providing strategies for advising and creating inclusive and welcoming climates for LGBTQ students as they prepare to study abroad, and as they return to their home campuses. “For me, this was an opportunity to improve upon concepts and information with peers in my field and portray what LGBTQ students face when studying abroad”, states Morrison.
This was the first webinar to address LGBTQ issues presented by the Diversity Abroad Network, an organization committed to increasing access, diversity and equity in international education. The Global Education Center is dedicated to upholding the university’s values and supporting both the ethnic and cultural diversity of its student body.
