1.) Accounts from the field of international business and trade, including the importance of intercultural understanding and what it takes to be successful in the global market;
2.) International trade and business developments in China and the Middle East;
3.) How knowledge of a second language and culture is critical for success in the global market;
4.) Current and future opportunities for collaboration between North Carolina and the world.

Davis has served with the North Carolina Department of Commerce since 2006. Prior to her work with the state government, she was a partner with the commercial property management firm Empire Properties in Raleigh, N.C.; co-founder and vice president of Lloyd’s Register Serentec, Inc., which provides regulatory compliance and validation services to FDA-regulated industries across the globe; and McGraw-Hill.

Davis earned her Master of Arts in International Relations at Tufts University – The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

The Business German Program at Elon helps students develop the linguistic and cultural skills needed to navigate German work environments and to communicate effectively in German with clients, business partners and colleagues. Students enrolled in the program complete supplementary modules each semester that focus exclusively on business topics and participate in bi-weekly language labs taught by German faculty focusing on German business culture and practices.

Students who complete the program’s coursework with a B average or higher qualify to sit for the Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf (Certificate in Business German) offered through the Goethe Institute, with the university covering the fee for the exam.
