From the Fayetteville Observer (10/28/12): By electing just two judges to our statewide appeals courts in November, North Carolinians have the chance of a lifetime to help ensure openness in government.
North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Wanda Bryant, an open government crusader from the early days of her legal career, is running for election to her second full term on the Court of Appeals.
North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby, running for his second, 8-year term and the only Supreme Court justice up for re-election this year, has an equally strong record in open-government cases.
With no other judicial candidates on the November ballot possessing anything close to the open-government credentials of these two distinguished jurists, and with state open-government laws under constant attack in the General Assembly and in the courts, North Carolinians need to keep Justice Newby and Judge Bryant on the bench to defend their right to know.
