The Elon team of marketing major Richmond Rosati '14 and finance major David Ordog '13 made it to the “Elite 8,” finishing as the runner up in the East Division at the Collegiate Ethics Case Competition held Oct. 25-27, 2012.
At the 10th annual competition hosted by the University of Arizona, students worked in teams to analyze, present and respond collaboratively to questions posed by a judging panel. The 32 competing schools from around the country and Canada were presented with a case that charged the teams to provide a stakeholder analysis as well as an analysis on the environmental, legal, financial and ethical aspects to the practice of hydraulic fracking.
“We learned that preparation is key,” Rosati said, “having solid information along with the ability to adapt to your audience with an engaging response was a great asset.”
Christina Benson, assistant professor of business law and ethics and faculty advisor, Dean Raghu Tadepalli and members of the Love School of Business Board of Advisors were noted for their support of Elon’s team providing them with feedback at practice sessions.
“I am extremely proud of both students’ hard work and dedication,” Benson said. “They have been great Elon Ambassadors. They also learned a tremendous amount about the very complex subject of fracking in a very short time.”
The top three teams at the competition were Boston College, University of Florida and University of Idaho.
