Brooke Winters, a double major in Music and Human Service Studies, recently participated in a panel discussion as part of the North Carolina Music Teachers Association conference at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The panel, which was organized by Yong Im Federle, titled “What I Wish I Would Have Learned Before College”, featured nine music students from several North Carolina colleges and universities, including UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Greensboro, East Carolina University, Meredith College and Elon. The students spoke about the transition from being a high school music enthusiast to a committed music major, and the changes entailed in this process — both academic and personal.
Three other music majors – Sarah Gilliard, Nicole Payne, and Wesley Rose – attended the conference, including a recital by internationally acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell and pianist Sam Haywood.
