Former Elon student Taylor Trensch and Barrett Wilbert Weed '11 are starring in "Bare," a musical that explores sexuality and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school.
The show follows the lives of several students who struggle to find acceptance from themselves and others. Trensch plays one of the lead characters, Peter, a gay altar boy who is terrified at the idea of being “outed.” Weed, a music theatre graduate who made her Broadway debut in February in the musical “Lysistrata Jones,” plays Nadia, the sister of Peter’s friend and lover, Jason.
Previously, Trensch played Boq in the Broadway company of “Wicked” and appeared in the world premiere of “Little Miss Sunshine” at the La Jolla Playhouse.
“Bare” began performances Nov. 19 at New World Stages in New York City. The show will officially open Dec. 9.
