Co-chairs Paul Miller and Kelly Reimer hope to build on the momentum created during last year’s campaign, when Elon employees set a record 65 percent participation rate.
Gifts to the campaign support scholarships, engaged learning programs, the Elon Experiences and athletics, among other priorities. For Reimer, Elon’s assistant director of teaching and learning technologies and a 2000 Elon alumna, the campaign also presents a chance for employees to show their support for Elon.
“The Faculty/Staff Campaign is a chance for Elon employees to come together for a common purpose,” says Reimer. “As employees, we all see the wonderful things taking place on campus. By participating in this campaign, we demonstrate our support of the programs and activities that make Elon so special.”
More than 700 Elon employees have made gifts since the 2012-2013 Faculty/Staff Campaign began on June 1, resulting in a 56 percent participation rate so far.
“Our sincerest thanks go to those who have already participated in this year’s Faculty/Staff Campaign,” says Paul Miller, professor of exercise science. “This campaign is vitally important to our community and gives us another opportunity to show our support for Elon. While the amount raised during this campaign is meaningful as it supports many of our important campus programs like student scholarships, faculty and staff development programs, and community engagement initiatives, perhaps the most important measure of this campaign is the participation rate. Every gift, regardless of the size, makes a difference and adds to the participation rate of this campaign.”
Miller and Reimer are leading a team of 50 volunteer captains, who will assist with the campaign. Together, they aim to exceed a giving record set during last year’s campaign, when 65 percent of employees made a gift. Last year marked the campaign’s second consecutive year of growth, up from a 60 percent participation rate in 2010-2011 and 34 percent in 2009-2010.
