Lynn R. Heinrichs, associate professor of information science, co-authored a paper titled, "Do Business Students Practice Smartphone Security?" in the most recent edition of the Journal of Computer Information Systems.
The study investigated whether or not business students at a public regional university practiced commonly accepted smartphone security practices. Results showed that even the simplest of precautions, setting a password, was only practiced by 41 percent of respondents. Male students tended to be more willing to take on risky behaviors than females.
