Communications assistant professor Phillip Motley and associate professor Amanda Sturgill published a paper in the Spring issue of Communication Teacher, a peer-reviewed journal published by the National Communication Association.
The paper, “Assessing the Merits of International Service-learning in Developing Professionalism in Mass Communication,” analyzes the abilities of projects like the Interactive Media Fly-In trips to teach professionalism because of the aspects of the environment, the group and the task.
In the Fly-Ins, iMedia master’s students, in small groups, travel to developing countries to work with non-profit groups who want to use interactive media to tell their stories.
