The assistant professor of education spoke twice in March to audiences in North and South Carolina.
Jeff Carpenter, an assistant professor of education, presented on educators’ use of the micro-blogging service Twitter at two March conferences: the North Carolina Technology in Education Society Conference in Raleigh, N.C., on March 8, and the National Science Foundation’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Southeast Regional Program Conference in Greenville, S.C., on March 22.
At the NCTIES conference, Carpenter, Elon senior Emily Dietrich, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School educators Jill Thompson and Ray Giovanelli gave their perspectives as a part of a panel entitled “Why You Need to Tweet: Four Educators’ Angles on Twitter.”
At the Noyce conference, Carpenter gave a presentation titled “How and Why STEM Educators Need to Be Using Twitter.” He described his own experiences using Twitter as a learning tool, and the preliminary results of a study he conducted on his teacher education students’ use of Twitter as a part of a class project.
