The first meeting of the School of Education’s National Advisory Board was held on March 14-15.
Under the leadership of Elon Trustee Jim Powell, who serves as chair, members discussed several challenges faced by the School of Education. They heard about how the school is facing some of those challenges and began to offer advice on additional strategies the School may consider. Elon President Leo M. Lambert, Professor Glenda Crawford, Gift Officer Tait Arend and Dean David Cooper each addressed the board. Faculty, staff and students joined the members for either breakfast or lunch conversations. The next meeting of the board will occur in the fall, and members have expressed an eagerness to visit programs operated by faculty and staff, as well as having more opportunities for student engagement.
