Join the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life for the formal dedication of the Numen Lumen Pavilion.
The Elon University community is invited to the formal dedication of the Numen Lumen Pavilion on Tuesday, April 30, at 2 p.m. in the building’s Sacred Space.
Faculty, staff, students and distinguished guests will gather to offer their hopes for the future of this building. The dedication will include a ceremony derived from the Buddhist tradition to honor our common bonds through short prayers and a red string, which represents protection, blessing and connection.
Elon University will live-stream the event from this link.
The Numen Lumen Pavilion, which opened in late February, is a place for prayer, meditation and reflection in the heart of campus. Its construction is part of Elon’s efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding.
The dedication precedes Spring Convocation at 3:30 p.m. “60 Minutes” correspondent Lara Logan will moderate a panel discussion featuring six distinguished guests who will speak on the need for multi-faith understanding in a complex world.
As the campus gathers to celebrate both milestone events, hear from Edna Truitt Noiles ’44 about the inspiration for a gift she and her husband, Doug, made to the university in 2001 to help create the Triutt Center.
