The one-hour school receptions allowed students to introduce parents to faculty mentors, laugh with friends and share their plans for life after tomorrow’s Commencement ceremony.
Standing outside the School of Communications, Media Arts and Entertainment Major Asha Wilson credited Elon for helping her discover her passion for television. She said all the programs she took part in during the past four years—The Pendulum, ESTV, Elon in Los Angeles—helped her narrow down her focus and discover her strengths.
“I really just want to make people laugh and entertain people, and I think that Elon has helped me build the skills to do that and build the relationships for people to contact to help me do that,” she said, adding she will be moving to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue a career in broadcasting. “It’s been great. It’s been a great four years.”
Alex Lake, an entrepreneurship and marketing double major, felt the same way.
“The past four years have really been an amazing opportunity to prepare not only the physical skills and the technical skills I’ve learned in class,” he said, “but really the social skills, the professional skills to just get up there and be a good speaker, a good leader and really be ready to change the world and use my skills in something that will benefit people in a better way and be that global citizen that Elon is really looking for us to to be.”
