An innovative program developed by Elon University that elevates the traditional “student worker” model was a recent finalist at the National Association of Colleges and Employers annual awards ceremony in Orlando.
The Student Ambassador Professional Development Training Program was one of three finalists in the student engagement category for an Excellence in Innovation Award.
The SAPDTP is designed to provide a comprehensive process for the selection, on-boarding, training and continuous evaluation of undergraduates working within the Student Professional Development Center. The SAPDTP and its metrics for evaluation are highly adaptable and can easily transfer to other operations that employ student workers.
“It’s revolutionized both the professionalism and capacity that these undergraduates provide to the SPDC,” said Tom Vecchione, executive director of the Office of Career Services.
The SAPDTP was developed by Kim Giles, the resources and communications coordinator in the SPDC.
