The daylong program in the Koury Business Center was attended by more than 240 people.
More than 240 people representing three dozen colleges and universities attended the Teaching & Learning Conference at Elon University on Thursday in a program co-sponsored by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, and Teaching and Learning Technologies.
With a theme of “Connected Learning,” the 10th annual conference included sessions – many led by Elon faculty and staff – that explored how students learn when in-class experiences are connected with out-of-class activities.
Other sessions on Aug. 15, 2013, examined the learning that emerges from collaborative learning strategies, simulations or knowledge-building activities. Several sessions focused on learning that connects concrete experiences with abstract conceptualizations; for example, in solving authentic problems, engaging in guided inquiry or creating a novel artifact.
Plenary sessions were led by Michael Paige, professor of international and intercultural education in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota, and Robbie Kendall-Melton, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs: eLearning and Emerging Mobilization Technology for the Tennessee Board of Regents.
The daylong conference took place in the Koury Business Center.
