SportsFest 2013 is in the books and Campus Recreation would like to thank all participants for an enthusiastic turnout and healthy competition.
This year, Campus Recreation kicked off the year with its 12th annual SportsFest Competition. More than 750 students, faculty and staff came together Aug. 30 to compete in the sack, relay and sponge races along with dodge ball, tug-of-war and the new crossfit challenge through the warm 90-degree weather.
Teams appeared to be very dynamic; many included students of different scholastic years or chose to utilize their Orientation Leaders, RA’s and SMART Mentors for this great out-of-the-classroom experience.
Congratulations to Otter Squad, which took first place, Club Rugby and Friends in second place, and Collah, which took third place. All three teams were in fact tied for first place and it came down to a challenge by challenge break down to determine our winners. The first place team won Elon Phoenix Lawn chairs, second place won Camelback Elon Water bottles and third place received Elon Phoenix draw string backpacks. In addition to these prizes, the 24 top placing teams took home SportsFest tanks.
Congrats to all of our winners and thanks to all students who participated and cheered on their teammates. We cannot wait to see what happens next year!
Keep Campus Recreation in mind for the coming events: the Color Run on Oct. 5 (co-sponsored with Elonthon) as well as the Haunted Trail on Oct. 29 and 30 (co-sponsored with SUB).
